The Alryans are the name given to themselves by the city-folk of Roglaros and the Pazidan
Peninsula. Although they consider themselves a separate race from the barbarian
Tharbrians and
Altanians they are in fact racially mainly a blend
of these two peoples. 'Alryan' is therefore mainly a cultural distinction signifying someone
who has left their barbarian heritage many generations behind.
The average Alryan is likely to be far more racially tolerant than their barbarian ancestors
as they see 'rubbing along' with a variety of people and cultures as a natural
part of city life (and being seen not to do so as bad for business). Their one large
prejudice is likely to be against their barbarian cousins for whom they have some disdain.
Most of the human population of
Zothay would I think see themselves as Alryan
(the remaining proportion being either
Skandiks or
Gismesh).
