The Order of Saint Baric are a group of Pelorean monks who are based in a monastery near Falnow in northern Reetland.
They were founded in 431 with the specific aim of countering the teachings of wandering priests of the
Church of Saint Erin who often used to journey into
northern Reetland and were warmly received by the population.
Saint Baric was a well known local saint chosen because he had many of the same interests as Saint Erin and indeed
having lived two hundred years before the founding of
Cambria may well have been an inspiration for some of the Cambrian ruler's philosophy.
At the time of the founding of the Order's monastery the Pelorean Church seems to have commissioned a biography of
Saint Baric in which he appears to have attracted many of the stories previously told about Saint Erin.
Having helped to confuse the two saints the Church can hardly blame the local population for also being confused
and many today treat them as if they were the same man. Meanwhile despite the Church's best efforts the
teaching of Saint Erin/Baric still appear to be popular in the north and the priests of Saint Erin are
as welcome as ever. In practice there is also much cooperation between the Order and Saint Erin's priests who
are frequent guests at their monastery.
