The Elves of Miredor, frequently called Southern Elves, are often assumed to be a different race of Elves than those
that inhabit the northern forests. This largely because they have a different skin hue than their northen counterparts
being very similar in complexion to the Phemaire tribes with whom they share Miredor. In fact both sets of Elves come from
exactly the same racial stock and whether by a natural racial ability or by 'Elven magic' Elves can vary their
pigmentation to suit their environment.
The 'Southern Elves', however, also have a notably different culture from their northern cousins being more inclined to
visibly embrace the material world and its bounty. Some see this as a sign that the Elves of Miredor are more worldly and
less spiritual than other Elves but it would be truer to say that they are just as religious but give more prominence to
some of the other Gods in the Elven pantheon. In Miredor you will find just as many shrines to
Alobal Lorfiril,
Elebrin Liothiel and
Halani Celanil as you would to
Corellon Larethian.
In other respects the Southern Elves are typical of their kindred. Those living within the forest tend to make their homes
in platforms ('flets') in the trees, whilst those living in other environments construct beautiful and elegant stone
architecture. Like other Elves they are deadly with both longbow and longsword although they have had little occasion
for these skills to be tested on the battlefield.
