Maven Ford is a small human village sited where the Old South Road crosses the River Maven
(known as the Mageven in
Zothay). The village is notable for its castle which is a
border fortress of the City State of
Quitak. The castle is said to be built on the ruins of
an older fort from an earlier empire. The castle also houses a Bardic College which was
founded two hundred years ago when the Bards were expelled from Zothay following a
misunderstanding with the then Tyrant.
At the current time the troops have been withdrawn from the castle leaving the Bards to
defend the village. Although the castle has been attacked many times in its history
(at one stage almost annually) by
Altanian tribesman, in the last decade they have
mainly raided to the west of the mountains.
