This is the Creation Myth as told in the Temple of Athena. It is only fair to say that
all religions have their own versions but many are clearly referring to the same (legendary)
events
'In the beginning were the Elder Gods and they created the Elder Races to live on Oerth,
which was a paradise. But some of the Elder Races were not satisfied with their lot and they
murmured against the Gods. And the Gods seeing the rebellion of the Elder Races created the
Younger Children and the races of the Younger Children were many. Then the First Men and
Dragons made war against the Gods and the Gods not wishing to destroy Oerth withdrew.
The Elder Races were well pleased for the Younger Children
were then but few.
In the void, however, lived the Markrabs and they saw the Elder Races were without Gods and
they came from the Void and demanded that the Elder Races should worship them. The Elder
Races refused the Markrabs and many saw their folly and turned back to the Gods. But the
Markrabs made war upon the Gods and drove them from Oerth and this was the beginning of
the Uttermost War. Then the Markrabs turned on the races of Oerth and demanded that they be
their slaves and the Elder Races were slaughtered in great numbers and the Younger Children
fled to the far ends of the Oerth and this was the War of Domination. But the Gods had not
been defeated and the Uttermost War continued in the celestial realms and in due time the Markrabs
were driven back into the Void and the Markrabs on Oerth followed their
armies in the Void lest they should be utterly destroyed. Then the Elder Races were granted
some respite and the Younger Children spread over all the Oerth. But the servants of the
Markrabs did not leave Oerth and they went away South and founded great empires.'
