Second Gnoll War

In 819 the Gnolls united again under a new leader Arratagar the Savage and headed toward the Sankhar border. This time the Sankhats were determined that the Horde should be turned back before they reached Sankhat soil and by decisively defeating the vanguard of Arratagar's army the Sankhats persuaded him to turn back to the Mountains of the Moon to seek reinforcements. Although Arratagar was every bit as bloodthirsty as Zenoggu he was a more cautious commander and the next few years were a game of cat and mouse as Arratagar tried to outflank the Sankhats and get his warbands into Sankhar itself. The only major battle was in 825 when the Sankhats and their allies successfully defended the ruined city of Tanaku against a large part of the Horde which allowed Arratagar to at least get his warbands past the main Sankhat army and into Sankhar. There, however, they were routed by a combined force of Cambrian and Reetland troops who had expected that very manoeuvre.
