Valkauna is the Dwarven goddess of oaths, contracts, deaths and births. In other Dwarven societies a Dwarf
might come into contact with a cleric of Valkauna at formal blessings of a birth and at marriages and funerals and
if he was unlucky maybe in a court for they often serve as magistrates. In Mablad society, however, they
are much more numerous since the Mablad Dwarves are extremely legalistic and given to written contracts
on a far wider variety of transactions. This tendency has led to disputes over contracts being common and
Valkauna's clergy could well advise both parties in a dispute as well as providing the arbiter.
As such her clerics are trained to take a strictly neutral point of view and to apply the letter of the law. Her holy
symbol is a design depicting a handshake, somewhat ironic in Mablad culture because deals are almost never concluded
this way. She is often depicted as an elderly white-haired Dwarven matriarch. Her temples are always constructed
to show off the grandest architecture that Dwarven culture can provide as befitting places where marriages and
funerals are held.
