As you requested I have come up with a couple of theories as to why Mycr is such a strange god
and doesn't really fit into our view of the nature of the other gods of Oerth. I shall also
attempt to explain what to me is his oddest characteristic: his refusal to acknowledge the
existence of the other gods. First to recap:
we currently believe that Oerth has its own 'divine field' and this field is interconnected to and
responds to events in the
material world. So our view is that the sufferings of the Younger Races in the War of
Domination, who were
estranged from their own Greater (and world-spanning) Gods, led to this field creating the
Younger Gods (largely in the image of the familiar Greater Gods themselves). Interestingly the
first, by all
accounts, of these 'Younger Gods' to arise was Mycr himself and I believe this to be significant.
My first theory is that Mycr is not a Younger God at all but a pre-existing Greater God
of this part of the multiverse who
responded to the suffering in what was, at the time, a new world (to him). Now we who have studied Comparative
Religion in The City know that the Greater Gods have millions upon millions of worshippers
across the multiverse. We also know that those of the Greater Gods who are actually interested
in the daily lives of their worshippers have innumerable avatars and a vast army of divine
servants who answer prayers on their behalf. So we may speculate that Mycr has hundreds if not thousands of other
worlds to look after but being compassionate he wants to respond to the needs of Oerth. He
therefore creates an avatar or delegates a divine servant to look after Oerth and being
intensely Lawful he gives a set of detailed instructions to that being. Now remember at that
time the only beings of power interested in Oerth are the Markrabs and Mycr. Therefore the
simple thing is to assume that all manifestations of arcane or divine power on Oerth not
emanating from Mycr are evil as they must emanate from the Markrabs. Further Mycr has never
returned to re-evaluate the situation as he has other concerns and as far as he can tell
his religion is working out fine in the hands of his servant.
My second theory is somewhat similar to the first but assumes that the Elder Gods created
Mycr as a kind of joint avatar of themselves. Given that our speculation is that they left
Oerth so as not to devastate it in a war with the Markrabs they created a being who was
powerful but not aggressive to try and shield the Younger Races once they were gone.
This being would therefore resist the Markrabs but not in an overly
violent way and therefore would avoid a catastrophic war. Note that from the Elder Gods perspective the same situation as in my
previous theory would apply: apart from Mycr the only other beings of power on Oerth at the
time were the Markrabs.
I have somewhat glossed the significance of another of our speculations that is that
Elder Races must have had gods, lets call them the Original Gods of Oerth, who preceded
the Elder Gods but these
days are confused with them. I think to Mycr these beings are either
considered evil or irrelevant to the races of interest to him.
I hope this helps. What I have said is of course 'wild speculation' but I have a feeling
that there is at least a grain of truth there.
