Iomedae is the Lawful Good Goddess of Honour, Justice, Rulership, and Valour. Her followers may be warriors and
paladins who take up arms against fiends or campaigning lawyers and politicians who seek to fight injustice. She is part of
a pantheon which originated in the ancient civilisations surrounding the Eastern Ocean but recently her worship
has started to be popular in lands far beyond that area due no doubt to the stirring tales told about her
followers in leading the fight against demonic incursions into the Material Plane. Despite these tales her priests are at pain to emphasise
she is not a war goddess and indeed her followers should believe that war should be the last option considered after all
forms of diplomacy have been exhausted.
In the lands of her core support her faith is famous for its orders of paladins but her following in Western
Far Sudland is not yet sufficient to support such organisations. Instead her key support seems to be amongst the young and
idealistic
who are dissatisfied with their conservative, corrupt and autocratic rulers. Extraordinarily her faith is rumoured to have
recently gained an underground foothold in godless
Rahadoum.
Iomedae is always portrayed
as a young woman wielding a longsword and in a full suit of plate mail. So great is her emphasis on actively combatting evil that her temples are rarely staffed by her full time priests. Instead her services in towns and cities are mostly conducted by the lay members of her order since her full-time priests will be following their destiny elsewhere.
The only place a priest of Iomedae is likely to be resident in her temples is ironically in her smaller shrines on the edge of civilisation where such champions act as the only available source of justice in the area.
