Erastil is the Lawful Good God of Family, Farming, Hunting and Trade. He desires his (most freqently rural) followers to live in peace and be allowed to get on with their lives. His priests although not pacifists are
sceptical of wars and against the principle of people sacrificing their lives for the vanity or greed of
their rulers. It should be noted in this context that his priests supported the First Mengovian Crusade but
have been opposed to the subsequent more controversial and ineffective Crusades.
Erastil places a high value on marriage and children and sees everyone in a community have a responsibility
for children's welfare. His priests see cooperation amongst a community as essential and will always offer to
mediate in disputes that threaten that value. They are also expected to have some expertise in crop and livestock
management and many will be working members of a community rather than full-time priests.
Erastil is often depicted as a typical hunter but is also frequently pictured with the head of an elk, in which
form he is known as Old Deadeye. His priests may also be druids with a particular concern for the place of humanity in nature. They will often seek out areas of conflict between man and nature and offer to mediate.
