Achaekek, one of the most feared Gods, and also known as He Who Walks in Blood may not be a male God at all. Sages point to the
fact that his priests teach that he/she is above gender, that in nature the the female mantis is more ferocious and to
the fact that the bulk of the assassins in his/hers favoured cult, the
Red Mantis are female.
Legends say Achaekek was created by a god or group of gods to deal with powerful upstarts who tried to steal divinity from
the gods. Although he fully accepts his role he is notably indifferent towards other gods even his own sister, Grandmother Spider. He is also
far more indifferent towards his own followers than other gods although he has imbued the Red Mantis with enough powers to serve him well.
Although he is not merciful he and his followers operate within strict rules that were instilled in him when he was created. He will not strike at rightful gods or rightful (divinely annointed) rulers. Similarly he wont strike at the gods own champions and as a corollary if such beings go rogue he wont interfere, as he regards the problem to be an internal one of that faith.
The Red Mantis are not his only worshippers but given that all his faith are expected to be willing to undertake assassinations
most of his followers tend to work in the shadows. The favoured weapon of his cult is the saw-toothed sabre, a weapon designed to produce a ritualistic and bloody murder.
