Galgorin

Galgorin is classed as a town but in reality is 'a village which serves as the centre for a much larger rural community'. It is a patch of fertile farmland surrounded by rolling hills. The farms themselves are scattered and only connected by narrow country lanes some of which lead to the village at the centre. The atmosphere is peaceful and the area does not have the same bustle and sense of urgency found elsewhere in Kenzin lands. Unlike some communities, however, the Master of Galgorin is not elected locally but appointed by the Realm-master of Shrel Kain. This has led to some tension within the community with the Master making 'improvements' to the town infrastructure that the conservative farmers feel to be unnecessary.

The key to the map is as follows:-

  • Grape and Grain Warehouse (1). This major building, shaded by tall trees, which centralises the storing of the local produce is the Master's pride and joy and the main source of contention with the locals who preferred doing things at their own pace.
  • Guard Station (2). Galgorin has eight guards and since the crime rate is low they double up as administrators at the new warehouse.
  • The Dancing Grape (3). The Dancing Grape is a small but high quality inn. It has limited accomodation but travellers will have no difficulty finding bed and breakfast in one of the local farmhouses.
  • The Apothecary (4) The knowledgeable Lada Moscote has a wide variety of herbs and potions and is something of a scholar.
  • The Weaver's Shop (5). Wellac the Seamstress weaves cloth from local plants and also makes clothing including wonderfully snug winter outfits.
  • The Tanner's Stall (6). An open fronted, lightly roofed structure has all the smells normally associated with tanning. Levdan tans leather and constructs good quality saddles and armour as well as clothing.
  • The Stone Wheelhouse (7). Another of the Master's improvements is a grain and wine crushing mill which is operated by the Guards. The processing of grain or grapes can be done for a nominal fee.
  • General Store (8). Owned by the Master the store provides basic food and other items at a reasonable price.
  • The Cemetery (9). The small cemetery is well tended and some of the worn headstones date back over a thousand years.
  • Marcartio Household (10). Sisters Julia and Silvi are former Garannon scholars who chose to retire here. They understand many aspects of magic and maybe are practicioners themselves.
  • Private Residences (11- 20).
