This Spear and Sword is owned by a former Captain of the City Guard, Cranulus who
lost an arm while battling a gargoyle in the line of duty. He was compensated by the city and
used the proceeds
to buy the tavern. The walls are decorated with weapons and armour and the atmosphere
tends to revolve around tales of battles and heroic deeds by the guard. Although the food
and drink are both very acceptable and the environment very safe the clientele are almost
all guards or ex-guards although the occasional professional mercenary or adventurer
will also be present.
Cranulus keeps the inn open 24 hours a day since it is a favourite stopping off point for
all guard patrols day or night. Victims of crimes frequently report them here as two
or three guardsmen seem to be always present. Cranulus is sympathetic to this arrangement
as it keeps him involved in the life of the city.
