The Sorcerors' Guild is very much a comfortable gentlemen's club for the spellcasting
classes. The Guildhouse has a bar and kitchen and a fully-fitted alchemical laboratory in
the basement. The conditions of membership require you to be a registered citizen with
at least twelve months residency in the city and to have the ability to cast third level
spells.
The Guild is open to all spellcasters although it is dominated by mages and sorcerors.
There are currently only five members of the guild of whom one is a druid. Many of the
members take meals in the Guildhouse and they are allowed to bring guests provided they
meet the spellcasting requirement. The ethos of the guild is very cooperative and
public-spirited (unlike many a Mage's Guild) and the conversation of the members is
frequently about what they can do to help the city.
The Guild is on occasion asked by the Overlord to help the Guard by providing magical
detections (for an appropriate fee of course). There are a number of cases in the last
decade where such detections have failed completely (or as the Guild like to say when
justifying their fee 'have detected the involvement of a higher level spellcaster'). The
lastest concerned the murder of a high-ranking member of the
Thieves Guild.
The Guildhouse contains many magic items and is heavily guarded at all times both by
the presence of experienced mercenaries
outside the building but also internally by magically-animated suits of armour. There are
also said to be more subtle magical traps in the building.
