Coras
Coras is the largest 'city' in Marwhini lands and the seat of their King (now largely a ceremonial title). It is the long term clanhold of the tribe of Harin, the dominant tribe at the time of the invasion of the Eastern Horde. The tribe's leader, Forlaf, led the western tribes in their doomed attempt to stem the advance of the Great Khan's troops. Forlaf was forced to sue for peace but had gained the respect of the Great Khan and in return for his oath of loyalty the Khan recognised him as High King of all the remaining Marwhini.
The city is built on a green hill and is defended by a dike, a wall and a high thorn hedge even though the preferred response of the Marwhini to an attack wold probably be to meet the enemy on the open plain. The city can, however, be seen for miles around, a reminder, should any need it, of the power of its inhabitants.The nature of the Marwhini lifestyle means that the city is practically empty in the summer months with less than a tenth of its full population present. As the nights become colder, however, it begins to fill up and in deepest winter its population may reach ten thousand.
