Caradsurga

Caradsurga (or Lor Sarga) was founded in the period of Kenzin expansion in Sankhar in the time when it was a province in the Great Khan's empire. At first it was merely a campsite for the bargemen who navigated the great wine barges up the Fola Salenin. In due course it became a permanent settlement and a 12' high mud and stone wall was built to protect it. Although many centuries have passed since those early days the focus of the settlement is still on the lucrative wine trade and it is still a favoured port of call for all who engage in it.

The map is keyed as follows:-

  • Stone and mud wall (1).
  • The Otter Inn (2). The favourite haunt of land based travellers it serves excellent food and wine although the prices are high. It is run by three Dwarven brothers.
  • Post House (3). Messengers and others on official business check in here. Fresh horses are available for a price. A good place to here the gossip on the road.
  • General Store (4). Sells foodstuff, textiles and general merchandise.
  • Maritime Store (5). The knowledgeable Fessius will sell you everything you need for travelling on the river including specially adapted weapons and armour. He will even build a boat to your specifications if given enough time. Many 'customers' present will have just dropped in for the river gossip.
  • Cardsurga Harbour Centorium (6). The dock workers, river boat patrols, wall guards and toll collectors are all organised from this building. Also holds a large inventory of maritime supplies.
  • Dinen Wall (7). Stops the river itself undermining the town and also any unfriendly incursion across the river by bandits or other forces. The wall is regularly patrolled.
  • The Drenched Rat (8). A cheaper inn than the Otter but still expensive by river standards. Rowdy but rarely violent.
  • The Piers (9). This bustling area contains several large warehouses. The place to go for connoisseurs of dodgy characters or if you wish to meet a lady of the night.
  • The Drowning Drunk (10). All you would expect from one of the roughest inns on the river. A good place to here indiscreet gossip drunkenly blurted out.
  • The Wine Trader (11). The building of the Salenin Wine Trader's Association. The membership fee is not high so everyone involved in the trade joins. A hour spent listening to the conversation here will tell you more about the wine trade it is said than a year of formal schooling.
  • Private Residences and Boarding Rooms (12 - 28). Some of the boarding rooms are very cheap and can be rented by the hour.
