The party spend some time coming to terms with the fact that they are being pursued by
rakshasa assassins. In the end they come round to Isky's point of view that although the rakshasas think they
will be ambushing the party the situation makes for a great opportunity for the party to ambush the rakshasas. The party therefore
set up a watch outside their invulnerable tent in the hope of attracting trouble. Three ominous looking fiends
duly appear in the night on Isky's watch and were clearly sent to do the rakshasa's dirty work. Despite their
impressive strength and large evil-looking weapons, however, they are slain by the party after a tough fight.
The next day the party come across a group of Logath tribesmen and
from a distance it is clear that there is some sort of commotion amongst them. A young boy rides to meet them
and explains that giant insects attacked their herds and also dragged his father underground. The tribesmen are
reluctant to mount a rescue as experience has taught them that this generally results in more casualties but
the party are recognised as heroes and the boy pleads with them to save his father. The party agree and send
Gale and Rumpkin to search the insects' tunnels. They find the boys father (still alive) but Gale's attempts to
negotiate with the insects (having suddenly remembered she is a druid and that the insects are part of the natural fauna of the plains) are less successful.
The Logath tell the party that they are heading west earlier than normal because the eastern plains have
become dangerous with many evil things having come down from the mountains recently. This is demonstrated
a little later when the party find they are being tracked by a number powerful creatures similar to werewolves.
Luckily they manage to dispose of the beasts without getting bitten.
The following day, fearing an attack by the assassins, Dwain casts Heroes' Feast on the party primarily
to combat the assassins' poison. Isky then receives news from her mother that one of the assassins has left
their pursuers camp. Before the party have time to digest the news the Logath come under attack from
three huge Frost Giants each with three Hell Hounds on the leash. The party divide into three to defend the
Logath. Gale takes one of the giants by herself (well not quite, she has Crin and her usual summoned menagerie to help her), Firmon stays with Isky as do Daelhaelin, Freya and Circe, leaving the rest of the party to take on the
third giant.
Just as Isky gets her first blows in on the giant, however, she disappears. Freya follows suit taking
Firmon and Circe with her and leaving Daelhaelin to face the giant by herself. Isky finds herself
in an underground temple, standing on a dimly lit teleportation circle, and surrounded by Raelin and the other
three deadly assassins. They immediately rain down blows on the goatherd and are somewhat
surprised when she survives their initial assault. They are even more surprised when Firmon joins the combat in typically
robust fashion while Circe summons something unnatural to help. Isky initially concentrates on hitting each
of the rakshashas as blows from the Sword of Erin prevent them from teleporting away. Both Isky and Firmon are lethal
with their swords and once the initial assault on Isky has passed the battle slips away from the rakshasas. For once
Raelin has nothing to say before Isky cuts him down.
Back on the plains the rest of the party dispose of the giants and the hell hounds before they can reek havoc
amongst the Logath, cementing their place in Logath folklore for many years to come.
