Byrny
Byrny is an important settlement close to the Rorystone Road which connects Quitak to Thunderhold. Its population is close to 2000 of which 80% are humans and 10% dwarves. It is closely allied to both Quitak and Thunderhold and the Royal Byrny Guard is now a regular regiment in Quitak's forces. The village is famous for the mining or iron ore and is considered of strategic importance to Quitak and Thunderhold, so much so that QUitak now provides a military governor for the town.
Byrny has three major temples dedicated to Odin, Athena and Hephaestius, the latter being favoured by the miners. It was named after the famous explorer Byrny who led settlers to the area in 2881 BCCC but who was killed trying to rescue hostages taken in an orc raid. The town has been plagued by orcs, goblins and gnolls (in the Gnoll Times) ever since but the keep itself has never been taken (even if the town itself has occasionally needed rebuilding).
