Buhr Widu

Buhr Widu is a Marwhini town built on a series of natural hillocks in the Fallswood beside the Fola Salenin. The town is the clanhold of the Deorlingas who claim descendants from Deor, a legendary Marwhini hunter, and the town was sited in the eaves of the forest so that the chiefs of the clan could more easily exercise their passion for hunting. The natural geographical advantages of the site have been supplemented by a wooden stockade and wooden guard towers.

Despite being naturally a hospitable people the residants have made little effort to make it easier for travellers to reach their settlement. A single dock lies on the Fola Salenin allowing boats to tie up and travellers have to make the mile long journey on foot to the site. Travellers by the main Salenin valley road which passes by on the opposite bank have to rely on the sporadically manned ferry service or swim the river.

There is no formal inn in Buhr Widu although the local brewer will serve customers on benches in the open air outside his 'shop'. Accomodation is generally available from the local people who live in the large long houses which provide shelter for two to three families each and which have ample room for guests. Most trading boats make Burh Widu a regular stop on their journeys down the river as there is always a supply of fine furs to be bought in the town. Outside the eaves of the forest the town has many tilled fields generally ensuring that a surplus of grain is available for purchase as are the products of the local bakers which include long-lasting honey cakes.
