Buhr Marling

Buhr Marling is a traditional Marwhini village standing on top of a slightly raised hillock overlooking the Fola Salenin valley. The village consists of nine longhouses each of which shelters three to four families. Inside the outer ditch, earthworks and wooden pallisade the ground has been flattened. The village is the clanhold of Huithyn, an important sub-chief of the Deorlingas. Unlike those of the tribe who live in Buhr Widu the followers of Huithyn have adopted a more traditional Marhwhini way of life and are horse breeders.

The commercial opportunities of the site have not been lost on the residents, however, and in the summer while most of the men are away on the plains the women of the tribe run craft based businesses and sell their goods to the trading ships.
